Territory - sowing on the river banks

Displaced from the territory I was challenged to think creatively for a project developed in 2014, the way I found to approach it was by travelling through aerial images acquired with a single click. At home, the earth seen from the sky and I instantly fell in love with the designs created by the cultivated lands on the riverbanks, resembling a patchwork quilt. The rectilinear lines, drawn on the soil, reflected the countless gestures of sowing the fields, travelling with this same thought through the many times I saw ancestors also working the land. Uniting diverse patches on a cloth base, I recreated the designs of these ploughed lands with linen and cotton threads. With embroidered gestures, I milled and sowed the fabric fields, not with agricultural implements but with my working tools: my hands, needles and threads.
