“I walk by the seashore collecting interesting pieces of driftwood. After further selection, I focus the sun’s rays through a magnifying glass to burn lines into the wood. Sometimes the lines correspond to certain dates. It is a deeply contemplative, meditative occupation which has suited the many solitary hours invoked in the recent past. I am happy reclaiming nature and enriching it with the most powerful element.”
